Eastwick: 1.07 - Red Ants and Black Widows

Eastwick: 1.07 - Red Ants and Black Widows

"After Chad visits her one last time in a dream, a grieving Roxie resolves to fulfill his last wish -- if she can figure out what it is. Hounded by Max, her replacement at the Gazette, about her kidnapping ordeal, Joanna grapples with her own lingering questions while dodging his. And Kat, startled by a newfound ability, realizes that Bun's old friend Eleanor Rougement may have answers for both of them. " -Wikipedia

Those Red Ants are Nasty.

Chad makes contact with Roxie one last time in a dream, telling her that she has to follow the clues. When she wakes up, she tries calling him repeatedly, but gets no answer. Meanwhile Joanna is with Kat who is at work, and they cart in Chad's body. Both of them are shocked and decide they should tell Roxie right away. Roxanne finds that Chad left his cell phone in her kitchen when Kat and Jo walk in. They say they have something to tell her, and she asks them is Chad is dead. They're surprised that she knows, and she explains that he told her in a dream.

When Kat's at home, her daughter gets a cut on her arm. When she uses her finger to put ointment on her cut, she somehow heals it completely. Her daughter is seriously impressed and runs off. Katherine is shocked and awed.

Roxie wants to go to Chad's funeral, the one she saw in her vision, but is not invited by his family. Joanna goes to work in order to get Penny for a picnic when she meets her replacement, Max. It turns out that he's very talented and has worked at some great places. He also wants an interview from Joanna for the paper about her ordeal with Pastor Dunn. She's angry, and she leaves. At Penny's picnic/lunch break, Jo tells of her telekinetic powers. Penny's reaction is extremely skeptical. She's not buying it. Kat's at the hospital when Eleanor arrives after almost being run over by a truck as a consequence of running into the street. She was shocked to see Darryl's face on Television. Eleanor asks Katherine to take care of her cuts with her healing powers, and tells her that she can see the magic all over her, it's just a part of her. Kat looks at the medical chart, tells her she doesn't believe in that stuff and when she turns back around, Eleanor is gone.

Roxie is looking for signs from Chad, and starts off with a hammer to return to Darryl Van Horne. She takes it to him and asks him if he has anything to say. Darryl walks on hot coals while talking to Rox, and convinces her to go to Chad's funeral even if his family says not to attend. This turns out to be a good idea, and the scene from her vision takes place. Afterwards, Chad's parents yell at her and try to drag her out of the cemetery. She breaks free, dumping Chad's father in an empty burial plot. Mia suggests they leave when Roxie sees her next sign, a T-shirt on a woman--the same T-shirt Chad was wearing in Roxie's dream. It turns out the woman was Chad's guitar instructor for the past 6 weeks, and he made her a song. The woman gives Roxie the CD with a recording of the song on it. It tells her to release herself.

Joanna's at a bar when her replacement comes in asking her questions again. He suggests that in order to recreate what she did, she needs to recreate what she was feeling at the time. In order to do this, Joanna thinks she needs to be very scared, so she rides a Ferris Wheel all the way to the top, stops it, and unlatches the bar. She uses this as a chance to makes her powers work, but unfortunately Max is riding in the seat with her and interrupts her. He tells her that she's got some issues and what she went through hurt her--She should get therapy. Joanna realizes that she needs to deal with what happened.

Kat brings Bun to Eleanor's house in an attempt to return her memory. She learns that they share the same powers, and they both have five children, like they're leading the same lives or walking down the same path. She also learns that her powers must be real and she would like to learn more about them. Eleanor says this will be a crash course, and gives Bun something to drink. When she's done drinking, Bun is numb from the waist-up, and Eleanor chants something and sticks a metal pole into Bun's neck. Kat is horrified. Eleanor is purging Bun's body of Darryl's dark magic--red ants. The red ants took her memories. While Bun is being cleaned out, the other two women stomp on the ants, trying to kill as many as possible. Eleanor pulls out the poles she stuck into Bun's neck, and she remembers everything. She also decides that she needs to stay with Eleanor and talk about Darryl Van Horne. Kat is way too freaked out and leaves.

Roxanne visits Darryl Van Horne again, and this time he feels that to get over Chad's death, she should sleep with him. She remembers that Darryl may not be the best person to get advice from at the moment and goes home to "release herself" by herself. Lastly, Roxanne deals with Chad's death while listening to his CD and putting away his stuff into a cardboard box. She's letting him go.

||Things I Liked||

• Darryl having a commercial.

• Those sick red ants.

• Kat's healing powers.

• Joanna's crazy Ferris Wheel moment. What was she thinking doing that with Max in the same seat as her?? Although I was amused.

• Darryl walking on the hot coals. The scene was pretty somehow.

||Things I Didn't Like||

• Eleanor almost getting herself killed/run over by a truck.

• Chad's song. It was sweet that he wrote a song for Rox, but I think it kind of blew.

||Things I'm Not Sure About||

• Roxie pushing Chad's father into an open grave. Funny, or not funny?

• I wonder if Max is Joanna's new love interest.

Eastwick: 1.06 - Bonfire and Betrayal

Eastwick: 1.06 - Bonfire and Betrayal

"In Eastwick, Halloween is the most important holiday of the year, when the town embraces its heritage with a good old-fashioned witch burning. Haunted by visions of a funeral, Roxie races to save those she loves from peril - but can she change fate? Wrestling with her feelings for Will, Kat tries to help Joanna win him back, but only manages to drive her away. And, devastated after losing her job and her man, Joanna discovers things can always be worse. " -Wikipedia

(So, Pastor Dunn's not done!)

This episode focuses largely on Jo.

Joanna's sitting at home feeling sorry for herself when Roxie and Kat swing by. They tell her to feel better and try talking to Will. Kat says that Jo should aplogize, so she sneaks into work and talks to him. He accepts her apology but tells her they won't be dating. Joanna uses her eye-power on Will, and he tells her about the spark he felt with Kat. Understandably angry, Joanna confronts Kat, who tells her she didn't mean for there to be anything between them. Joanna is still angry and goes home, continuing her depressing mood. When she's laying on the couch and wants to change the channel, she begs the remotes to not make her get up. Reaching out her hand, the remote slowly moves toward her until she can grab it. Jo's amazed. When someone rings the bell, she reluctantly gets the door. Pastor Dunn knocks her out and kidnaps her.

Joanna comes to in a van, and Pastor Dunn's in the driver's seat. With her hands and feet tied, she seems helpless. But is she? She asks Pastor Dunn to look into her eyes, and to let her go. He resists her influence, either because they made eye contact through a mirror or because he's a priest, or he just really doesn't want to let her go. I have no idea. Anyway, he says he will not suffer a sorceress to live, and they continue on to his destination. Once there, Pastor Dunn is making a coffin for Joanna, and she gets more and more scared. While making nervous small talk, she notices something she can cut her ropes with, but she can't reach them where she's tied up. Hoping her powers can save her, she reaches out to the sharp object, urging it toward herself. Once she has it in her grasp, it's an exhilerating "THANK YOU!" feeling, and she tries, and fails, to escape.

Finally, Pastor Dunn takes Joanna to the town's annual bonfire, where everyone puts burdens from the last year in coffins and sets them aflame. It's very symoblic. He plans for her to die on the bonfire, have the witch burn. Roxie and Kat see Pastor Dunn standing near the fire, and know something's amiss. Kat tries to save Joanna, but volunteer firefighter Will stops her from going into the fire. Frustrated, sad, and very upset, she creates a rain that puts out the fire, and Joanna is saved. The episode ends with Jo and Kat being friends again. Joanna says that she really has no claim on Will, and if he makes Kat happy, she wants the best for her friend who would risk their life to save her own.

||Favorite Things||

• Joanna and Kat making nice. That made me feel very good inside, and really, Kat is worth way more to Joanna than Will is.

• Jo's new powers. Yay for the girls getting stronger!

• Bun's psychic powers! And how she helped save Joanna by touching her keys and saying they were burning hot.

• Bun telling Roxie that no, you can't change destiny or fate.

• Pastor Dunn getting away.

• Darryl messing with Bun.

||Things I Don't Know What To Make Of Yet||

• Darryl being saved from death. I don't know if I like that or not.

Eastwick: 1.05 - Mooning and Crooning

Eastwick: 1.05 - Mooning and Crooning

"Under the influence of a rare celestial event, Eastwick "goes wild" for a night - and our ladies aren't spared. Newly-single Kat fulfills a longtime fantasy -- atop a piano -- while Roxie and Mia end up in an embarrassing predicament with Chad and Josh. Feeling the pressure from her editor, Joanna, with Penny's help, rushes to print a newspaper story that gets her in some very hot water. " -Wikipedia

Luna Solvo! The moon releases.

During the event in which the moon appears to be three times its normal size, the citizens of Eastwick are acting wild, and their inner desires and powers are unleashed. Roxanne's psychic powers get an extremely strong boost, being able to touch people and see the present or future, and being able to tell what card is what in a deck of cards. Reading them out quickly, she gets all she guesses correct, and Chad is seriously impressed and turned on.

Joanna is wondering what to do about this Darryl Van Horne report-thing, and decides to take a break and PAR-TAY. She proceeds to sit on the copy machine and print out pictures of her butt. Finally, she decides to hand in a piece about Darryl, and Penny kisses her. It's quite the crazy moment.

Kat Gardener goes to a restaurant, and sings a song laying on the piano to--who else--Mr. Van Horne. She's looking pretty hot in an outfit that resembles Jessica Rabbit's, and proceeds to bring down the house--or, er, restaurant--and sets it ablaze. Oops. Talk about things getting out of hand. Outside, our volunteer firefighter Will examines Kat, and sparks fly. What will happen next?....

|| Favorite Things ||

• The Moon! It's so gorgeous. It may just be me, since I've always had a big love for the moon and stars, but wow. I would have loved to see that in real life.

• Chad being Roxie's Professor Xavier. And he doesn't read comic books. . . .they're graphic novels.

• Joanna working up a storm while everyone else in the office is partying like monkeys.

• Kat on that piano. Easily the highlight of the episode. Great song.

• Darryl having piano talent. Nice!

• Roxie being able to read people by touching them was amazing. I wonder what she thought about that.

• Mia & Josh's kiss underneath the moonlight. ♥

• Mother & Daughter, Brother & Brother meeting in jail. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

• Darryl suggesting that Kat make a better list, not called a bucket list, because those are for people that are dying. And that it was a Suck-it list, because everything on it was, well, lame. And the suggestion that she might, oh, sleep with a wealthy industrialist. Not necessarily him, just any wealthy industrialist. But you know, he's right there, if she decides to.

|| Things I Didn't Like ||

• Mia being all mean to Josh. What a shallow, heartless teenager. Sheesh. Seriously, Mia, there's no excuse nor reason for that.

• The whole sexy scene in the alley. Trashy, I think. Those Torcoletti's!

|| And Things I Don't Know What To Make Of Yet ||

• Will and Kat? I don't know whether to like this or not. Will doesn't want Joanna anymore. Fine, he has every right to do that. But it's sort of an unspoken rule, you know? Don't date your friends' exes. But is that fair?. . . .

. . . . And whose funeral was that? Any guesses on who IS going to kick the bucket?
